Software I Use

On My Mac

  • Obsidian
    • The perfect note-taking software: open source and snappy. I like using a grey accent for the theme to get that monochrome feeling. Vim keybindings, of course.
  • Cursor
    • Vim keybindings and Serendipity Midnight theme. I hide almost all the toolbars.
  • Hyper terminal
    • I find it nicer to use than iTerm2
  • Unread
    • Newsletters are good but having them in my inbox is kind of stressful, I just keep them in Unread
  • JustFocus
    • Pomodoros help me keep focused because I can say to myself that all I have to do is focus for 25 minutes and that gets my momentum going
    • You have to go into the advanced preferences to set a hotkey for starting a pomodoro
  • Numbers
    • I prefer using Numbers for spreadsheets because it feels cleaner and the fact that it is local (as oppposed to Google Sheets) means that it’s snappier
  • Zotero
    • Decent PDF library manager

Browser Plugins

Web Apps

  • alyx
    • my bookmark manager, public by default so my friends can see what I’m up to
