Repetition As Discovery
There’s a fear for every creator that we repeat ourselves, that people will tire of hearing the same things - also a fear that we can tire of ourselves and not bring anything new to the table but I think we need to disabuse ourselves of that idea.
Let’s reframe being repetitive as practicing. Maybe you want to practice in private but I think there’s something thrilling about pracitcing in public. The public you have at the beginning is basically so small that you’re in private anyway and those who stumble upon you will either ignore you or support you knowing that you’re at the beginning of a journey.
I’ve invested in a premium subscription so that I can write longposts like this one every week. Doing the bookmark threads has been really fun https://x.com/wayfaring_tim/status/1863113436445774059 and I’ve gotten a good flow there, let’s ramp it up by doing a thought a week.
This post is meta in the sense that I am prepared to repeat myself and rework ideas using this weekly practice. The goal is to sit down for ten minutes once a week and just write out what’s at the top of my mind. This is loosely inspired by @simon_ohler ’s goal of publishing once a week.
See you around,
Tim
